Can I run an EV cable across the pavement?

The trial page quotes £190 and £295 council licences, about £1,000 for the channel and £1,000–£1,500 for a charger. Places are limited. Do not install a channel or trail a cable until the authority confirms the permitted route.

Does a pavement channel reserve a parking space?

No. An approved channel does not normally reserve the kerbside space outside the property, so legal and reasonably reliable parking still matters.

What if I already have a driveway?

A private wallbox is normally the simpler route because the charging cable stays within the property. A qualified installer must still assess the electrical supply and charger position.

What if a channel is unavailable?

Use the council's public-charging route or check whether creating lawful off-street parking and applying for a dropped kerb could be realistic for the property.
